Wembley Stadium

Glass Balustrades and Cap Rails

Opening in 2007, the iconic Wembley Stadium is one of the best known football stadiums in the world. Designed by Populous and Foster + Partners, the stadium is perhaps most well-known for the 134m high Wembley Arch, but features contemporary designs and materials throughout.

The architects and developers specified structural glass balustrades complete with cap rails. Used throughout the stadium, in particular in the foyer entrance area, the frameless glass railings provide a beautiful, unobtrusive railing solution with the functionality to match. Using 21.5mm thick toughened and laminated glass panels, cantilevered from a base channel and secured with chemical grout, finished with an expertly applied silicone capping.

Scott Swarbrick of Vision Design Projects commented, “We were able to fulfil the design team’s vision of high performance balustrades with clean and unobstructed glass lines. When it came to installing the glass railings we were able to install efficiently and in harmony with other contractors who were on site at the time and to achieve the accuracy needed in line and level to pull off this type of balustrade installation to the required tolerance”
